I specialise in working with people with expat, immigrant, and/or third culture backgrounds who are struggling with navigating different: cultures, values, traditions, beliefs, expectations, or needs within the family, spiritual community, social circle, modern society, work and/or within yourself.
Do you want to break generational cycles?
Do you want to unlearn unhealthy beliefs, perspectives given to you?
Are you caught between two worlds?
Are you a people pleaser, or perfectionist and exhausted?
Were you shamed if you made mistakes, or put on weight or didn't look good?
Did you experience consistent criticism, and/or lack of emotional support?
Were you the self sufficient child having to figure everything out for yourself?
Have you experienced trauma/abuse and it is affecting your daily life and relationships?
Or you could be:
Feeling dread when thinking about the future or future events.
Feeling anger about an injustice you've experienced.
Feeling overwhelmed, paralysed or stuck.
These can cause some of the following experiences, but not limited to:
Being overwhelmed,
Feeling lost,
Difficulties in asking for help,
Not knowing who you are,
Negative thoughts and self talk,
Comparing ourselves with others and never 'good enough',
People pleasing,
Self judgement,
Self blame,
Lack of boundaries,
Unable to be an advocate for yourself,
Trust issues.
Counselling and/or EMDR therapy can help you work through and manage these feelings, thoughts and experiences, to find relief and a way forward.
EMDR are for those wanting to accelerate their healing, as well as when talking therapy alone hasn't worked for them.
Counselling is where you can explore personal difficulties in a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and supportive space. Sometimes it's helpful to speak to someone outside your personal circle.
I am here to listen and understand, create a space for you to feel seen and heard, to process what is going on for you, support you in understanding yourself and situation better.
Starting therapy can be quite scary for some people and having to open up to a stranger, but you will be in control and go at your own pace during the sessions.
With compassion and curiosity we will explore how your parents, main carers, siblings, past experiences, upbringing and environment have shaped your current values, self-beliefs, perceptions, behaviours and thought patterns.
Focusing on the perspective of what happened to you and how it influences and drives your behaviour, thinking and emotional processing.
You will be supported in becoming aware of these aspects, clearer understanding of them and unpacking the feelings that come up.
Leading to insight into your present situation, to challenge unhelpful perceptions, thought patterns, behaviours and core beliefs.
This process can foster growth and lead to positive change in your life.
I can help you have a healthier relationship with yourself, enabling trust and self-confidence. Ultimately, becoming and feeling more whole and empowered as a human being.
If you are ready to change for the better, I would love to support you on your personal growth journey!
